But I did come across a REALLY nice one tonight, on a neat blog called "Addicted To Books".
Here it is:
Out of the Pocket by Bill Konigsberg
Pages:272
Genre:Coming-of-age and sports
Rating:100++/10
Summary:
"Star quarterback Bobby Framingham, one of the most talented high school football players in California, knows he’s different from his teammates. They’re like brothers, but they don’t know one essential thing: Bobby is gay. Can he still be one of the guys and be honest about who he is? When he’s outed against his will by a student reporter, Bobby must find a way to earn back his teammates’ trust and accept that his path to success might be more public, and more difficult, than he’d hoped."
My Review:
WOW! This book went above and beyond my wildest expectations! Oh my goodness, where to start?
The whole book was, in a word, perfect. It was a perfect blend of everything. It was insightful, touching, unpredictable, heart wrenching, and hilarious.
I was very glad to see that the plot was not centered around lust. The characters were tremendously engaging, and lovable!
The whole book was completely and utterly captivating. Every single page grabbed my attention like no other book has. I never intended to read much of it. I was on page 90 one second and 190 the next. I went to bed at four in the morning because I absolutely had to finish the book.
When I did finish, I was left with a euphoric, joyous feeling. It was one of those books where you can't help smiling stupidly throughout the entire book.
I learned a lot about football, though I'm still pretty confused. The author did a fantastic job with describing the games.
I hated to see it end.
Overall, Out of the Pocket is one of the best books I've ever read.

Thanks so much, Amy, for your extremely kind review! And thanks as well to those of you who have sent me beautiful e-mails telling me about what the book has meant to you. It means a ton to me that OOTP is still touching lives, and when I feel lost, or stuck, writing my newest book, it's nice to look back on those notes and kind reviews. It really helps me find the confidence to fight on.
