And I quote:
The Jets ... will keep this one close with supurb defense and will have a chance to beat Tom Brady with a final drive. In fact, I'll say they will win on a last-second field goal. Jets over the Pats.
Jets 16, Patriots 9.
Turns out they didn't need a last-second field goal. Their defense looks really, really good.
This is the week that the 49ers assert themselves as clear NFC West favorites with an easy win over the Seahawks. Starting the year out 2-0 with solid wins over Arizona and Seattle bodes well in a weak division. Frank Gore will have a big day and the defense will do the rest.
49ers 23, Seahawks 10. Frank Gore 207 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Now that was just a lucky guess with Gore. I do think the Niners are an interesting team and look forward to seeing them against the Vikings this Sunday.
In the "things that make no sense" category, watch for the Cardinals to win on the East Coast at Jacksonville. Last year they went 0-5 in games across the country, even as they swept through the NFC West en route to the Super Bowl. This year, they opened with a home loss to the 49ers, and I have a feeling they'll find some of their missing offense today.
Cardinals 31, Jaguars 17. Kurt Warner completes an outrageous 24-of-26 passes.
Ok, so I missed on the Broncos, saying they'd lose at home to the Browns, and I thought the Texans were good but not good enough to beat the Titans. But still, all in all a nice week of prognosticating if I may say so myself. By the way, I have watched both Denver games and have no sense at all about the identity of this Broncos team. They seem to be stronger defensively than I've seen in a long while, but offensively they mostly look awful. We'll see, won't we?
