Chuck has given notice at his job, so it's all a go. We are moving from New York to Billings, Montana, in May. We'll drive across the country starting on May 6. I'll fly back to NY for the Lambda Literary Awards on May 28.
Why are we doing this?
Chuck got a job. It's a good job. With the Dept. of the Interior. Water law is his specialty, and this will allow him to get back to what he does best. He moved here to be with me, and while that part has been great, he has been away from his true career for a few years now.
He's so excited about the job, and I am, too. It'll be good for him.
What will I do?
I will write.
I am very focused on my fiction writing these days, and my hope is to complete a fourth novel this summer. Now I can relax into my writing, knowing that it's my vocation. Living in a cheaper place will make that much easier.
What will we do for fun?
I dunno. It's Montana, so outdoorsy things, probably. Maybe we'll get a dog. I'll probably ride my bike a lot and also explore the area on some nice driving trips. Everyone says it's the most beautiful state, so now we'll experience that.
Am I aware that Billings is not Bozeman, or Mizzoula?
Yes. But we visited and it's perfectly lovely.
Please do not be offended if you are a friend or family member, and this is the first you've heard of this. We've known all of four days, and Chuck gave notice today. We're hoping to write notes to our loved ones, but there's a ton to get done right now. Please don't hesitate to be in touch! If you want to be in touch with us, it's almost certainly mutual!
And oh, we will try to have a going away party. We're trying to figure that out.
Is this all a ploy to be able to receive Fox Rocky Mountain Sports without paying for dish network or something?
Yes.
