This hasn't yet happened to Out of the Pocket - yet - but I feel that I must get involved because this is UNACCEPTABLE. You can read about what is going on here.
In short, Amazon.com seems to have decided that many, many books with gay content are "adult content" and as such have removed their sales rank. James Baldwin. E.M. Forster, Edmund White. For those who browse in any way other than title and author (meaning unless people come to the site looking for the books), these books are now unfindable. It's a huge problem for these authors.
This is not about adult content; it's about gay content. My friend Rob Byrnes' books - including his new one, Straight Lies, has been de-listed. And these are not sexually charged books.
He wrote about it on his blog.
So too has this happened to:
Craig Seymour - All I Could Bare. He told me about this in person back in February, when we read together at a bar in Chicago. At the time, we thought it was some sort of mistake. But if you read the above link, you'll get a history of the problem.
Unacceptable. Until this is resolved, I ask my fans to avoid buying my book or any books at Amazon. Barnes & Noble, Powell's and indie shops will be better suited to our needs as LGBT and LGBT-friendly consumers.
Thank you.
